Egg shaped, about the size of a plum, smooth glossy peel either purple, red, orange or yellow. Inside flesh is black to orange surrounding edible small black seeds.
Selection:
Choose only firm unblemished, fragrant fruit, heavy for its size, which yields to gentle pressure.
Storage:
Wrap in plastic and refrigerate.
Uses:
Fruit platters, salads, chutneys, relishes and curries.
Preparation:
Peel before use.
Serving suggestion:
Add raw to fruit compotes.
